Job Search Post #2ish
Some awful close calls recently.
I went in to a great public service place a few weeks ago. My friend of a friend who took me in there got psyched and walk me over to the PR department and I met a bunch of people.
One of them eventually responded to my e-mails by saying that she thought I seemed qualified but she wasn’t interested because of my lack of non-profit experience. She does think that I could handle a web position that might open up, which would be very cool.
Today I met with an HR guy for another large n.p. and he said that they didn’t have anything immediate, but that he’d be happy to recommend me for anything that did come up.
I got to the next to last round of a set of interviews with a job that I really really wanted last week. It was a gear helping on an issue that I’m really interested with a strong web/video production angle that I loved. But when the big bosses got it all down to the final interview list I wasn’t in it. Sources say I was on the bubble, which is small comfort.
It is hard to keep your chin up. At least these are gigs I’d want if I could get them.
